How It Works
Tiny Sports applies for government grants on your behalf, as the incorporated entity that granting bodies require. Here is the process from first contact to funded program.
01
Get in touch
Tell us about your coaching program or club. We ask about your sport, how you operate, where you are based, and what your athletes need. No grant knowledge required on your end.
We will assess your situation and tell you which grant programs are currently open, what amounts are available, and whether you are likely to be eligible. This initial assessment is free and there is no obligation to proceed.
02
We agree on a partnership
If there is a good fit, we formalise the relationship with a Partner Service Agreement. This sets out how the grant funds will be used and how acquittal is managed.
Tiny Sports acts as the incorporated entity that receives the grant. The Partner Service Agreement documents your program, the approved use of funds, and the reporting obligations. It protects both parties and meets the requirements of the granting bodies.
03
We write and submit the application
Tiny Sports handles the application from start to finish. We write the narrative, prepare the budget, source the required attachments, and submit before the deadline.
You will need to provide some information — typically a description of your program, the equipment or activities you need funded, and supplier quotes. We guide you through exactly what is needed and do the rest.
04
Funding is received and disbursed
If the application is successful, Tiny Sports receives the grant funds and disburses them to your program for the approved expenditure only.
We manage all acquittal reporting to the granting body. You provide receipts for approved expenditure and we handle the paperwork. Grant timelines vary — SRV grants typically have a 12-month expenditure window from date of receipt.
What we need from you
Most of the work is on our side. But we do need a few things from you to write a strong application.
- A description of your coaching program or club — who you work with, what sport, how many athletes
- Details of what you need funded — equipment items, event costs, travel plans
- Supplier quotes for the items or services you are requesting (we can guide you on what is acceptable)
- A brief description of how the funding will expand athlete participation or remove cost barriers
- Your consent to Tiny Sports naming your program in the application
Common questions
Does Tiny Sports charge for this service?
No. Tiny Sports does not charge partner clubs or coaches for grant facilitation. We are a not-for-profit and this service is part of our purpose. In future years, we may introduce a membership model for ongoing partners, but the core grant access service remains free.
What happens if the application is unsuccessful?
Nothing. There is no cost to you if an application is unsuccessful. We will let you know the outcome and, where possible, give feedback on how to improve eligibility or approach the next funding round.
Can any sport access this?
Yes, in principle. Different grant programs have different eligibility requirements, but most SRV and QLD Active Clubs programs are open to all sports. The sport itself is rarely the limiting factor — structure (sole trader vs incorporated) is the main eligibility barrier we address.
I am already incorporated as an association. Can you still help?
If you are already incorporated, you may be eligible to apply directly. We can still help with the application itself — reviewing your draft, checking eligibility, writing the narrative. Get in touch to discuss.
How long does a grant application take?
Most applications take between one and three weeks from when we have all the information we need from you. The main time-sensitive element is gathering supplier quotes. We will set a clear timeline once we start.
What grant programs do you currently work with?
Currently we focus on Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) Sporting Club Grants and Queensland Active Clubs grants. We are expanding to additional state programs and, once ACNC charity registration is confirmed, federal programs including Sport Australia and the Australian Sports Foundation.
